Burkina Faso: « The bloodbath that is announced »must be quickly avoid by the army, says zéphirin Diabré

The national situation is still critical in Ouagadougou. This October 1, 2022, shots have been heard in neighborhoods of the capital since September 30. Contacted by the press the president of the Union for Progress and Change (UPC) Zéphirin Diabré calls on everyone to ward off the danger hanging over the Nation.

Ouagadougou is hectic. Soldiers are seen here and there in the capital at strategic points.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s men who took power on Friday September 30 to avoid a confrontation are demanding the resignation of President Paul Henri Damiba.

The leader of the Union for Progress and Change (UPC), Zéphirin Diabré does not want to see this confrontation. He appealed wholeheartedly to the Burkinabè army « What is worrying as I speak to you is the information that we are receiving and hearing about the risk of confrontation between the fractions of our army« .

This situation, Zéphirin Diabré calls for it to be circumscribed as quickly as possible. “That is an enormous and very serious risk that we must avert very quickly in the situation that our country is experiencing, which is already in the throes of terrorism,” he said.

The former Minister of State in charge of national reconciliation under President Roch Kaboré also maintains that “it would be a real shame if our soldiers came to attack each other with weapons”.

This is why he invites everyone to work, to find a way out, in order to avoid a bloodbath. « This is the place for me to invite all the forces, social and moral, all the religious and customary authorities, to ensure that we quickly find a way to ward off this danger that we see coming and to ensure that this predicted bloodbath does not take place« .

And to continue: “We will also have to find a way to agree on the way in which we must lead the immediate and future future of our country through consultations”.

In several cities of the country, the populations came out to demonstrate. This is particularly the case in Bobo Dioulasso (where the French institute was ransacked), in Kaya, in Ouahigouya. Without forgetting Ouagadougou where angry demonstrators burned objects in front of the French.
