Bright Kwame Fiaga, President of ICIEE International, to illegal migrants: “Turn back to preserve your life. Don’t abandon your dream, but rethink it”.

The International Council for Immigration, Entrepreneurship and Employment (ICIEE International), an international organization, was launched on Wednesday December 13, 2023 in Lomé. According to its founding president, Bright Kwame Fiaga, the organization aims to provide “solid” and “holistic” support to immigrants, helping them to immigrate legally, integrate into host communities and promote their social inclusion.and economically.

Technical progress and the development of communications have encouraged the movement and contact between peoples, who are increasingly called upon to rub shoulders and meet. As a result, immigration has become a vitally important issue in contemporary society.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in 2020, the number of international migrants worldwide will reach 281 million, including 135 million women and 146 million men.million men. This represents almost 4% of the world’s population. 169 million people are migrant workers, while 3,900 migrants lost their lives during their journey.

Over the same period, these migrants repatriated 702 billion US dollars to their countries of origin. As we can see, migration is not inevitable. Both good and bad things can happen. the consequences. This is why ICIEE International aims to raise awareness (among young people and women, who are most concerned by the subject) for successful immigration.

“We’ve noticed that many young people leave their country because they think there’s nothing left for them to do. Some of them, if they had entrepreneurial notions, could develop them in their own country without necessarily needing to immigrate. Others, on the other hand, are often lured by smugglers into an Eldorado that doesn’t exist, and who make them take risks.  . But if they had all the information they need, they wouldn’t take these risks,” says the organization’s president, Mr. Fiagan.

That’s why ICIEE International is committed to discouraging risky, clandestine immigration (RCI) by educating young people about the harmful consequences of RCI and the benefits of healthy, regular immigration. It also wants to offer free or low-cost legal services to these people through partnership with law firms, consultants and HDOs to help them navigate the complex maze of immigration laws and regulations.

“We want to empower them to defend their rights and make their voices heard in our society,” said the president.

The ICIEE International wants to rethink immigration, encouraging the adoption of new migration policies that allow potential to flourish.

The president of the new organization encouraged states to adopt responsible immigration, by abolishing entry visas.

To illegal immigrants, Mr. Fiagan tells them to : “We’re not asking them to turn back in order to preserve their lives. We’re not asking them to abandon their dream, but to rethink it,” he clarifies.

An international organization, ICIEE International is present in the DRC, Ghana, Nigeria, Canada, the USA and Togo, where its international headquarters are located.
